From Urban Wasteland
To say that this garden needed a bit of TLC must be the understatement of the year. Not one to be deterred, I began by ripping out all the weeds and overgrown planting from the back wall.
To Mediterranean Glow
The wall was then rendered to give me a flat painting surface. I applied a stabilising solution to block any salts etc from the concrete from seeping through. Then I painted the wall with Sandtex smooth masonry paint in Hot Brick. I planted Mediterranean style evergreens along the lower wall. The effect of the bold bright green planting against the newly painted terracotta wall was awesome.
From Rubble & Weeds
We lifted the old random bits of decking and crazy paving and turfed this area. At the same time, we removed hundreds of roof tiles which the previous owner had used as a fence and erected a more conventional low fence.
To Fresh Planting & a New Lawn
The results speak for themselves. An urban wasteland had been transformed into a Mediterranean style garden.
