As promised, as the weather improves, I know, it’s taking it’s time! But gradually the sun’s reminding us what it looks like. So, over the next few month’s I’d like to share with you some of my favourite coastal spots here in the South West. First up, and as a very brief taster, here are a couple of images of Shaldon in South Devon, which is just a few miles away. These photos were taken on Saturday, when the sun eventually surfaced. I hope you enjoy them and they give you a taste of brighter summer days ahead.
Shaldon, South Devon
Shaldon is an incredibly pretty and unspoilt small village situated on the Teign estury and opposite the resort of Teignmouth. It proudly retains it’s fishing industry links and is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Walking along the beach at the weekend, in the with the bracing salty sea air swirling around, it was almost impossible not to smile, relax and just enjoy the moment.
Fishing Boats Being Made Shipshape
It was a real hive of activity too, with dogs, kids and even a few adults running along the beach. Those that didn’t fancy a run were well catered for with many an ice cream being enjoyed. The fishermen were busy too, tending their craft in readiness for the first proper outing of the spring.
As the tide was out it was also a fantastic opportunity to do a spot of rock-pooling and to look for muscles, which there were aplenty.
The Village Pond
At the top end of Shaldon is the village pond which was awash with fish all darting about. Next time we’re down, I’ll take some close up’s of the fish as some of them are quite stunning.
So there we are then, a taste of life down in my patch. I’d love to know what you think, and weather permitting I’ll be getting out and about quite a bit in the month’s ahead and look forward to sharing my jaunts with you.
