A quick kitchen refresh has been on the cards for a while. Nothing major as the kitchen is quite new, just something to give it a quick lift after a long winter. Luckily, the great team at Wham came to the rescue again.
You’ll remember Wham from a post I published recently on my garden tidy, that went really well & I’ll have stacks of new photos on my courtyard garden refurb to share with you soon.
As I mentioned in the above post, you may not be too familiar with the name, but I bet you have a number of Wham products at home. Wham is the trade name for What More UK limited, established in 1999 and now the UK’s largest manufacturer and brand leader of plastic housewares. Just like me, you probably use Wham products everyday without even realising it.
From household storage, DIY toolboxes, organisers, gardening pots, pet care, food storage and wooden brushes, Wham manufacture them all at their state of the art facility, in the North West of England. They also manufacture an extensive range of bakeware and ovenware
Wham Casa Kitchenware
What I was looking for re my kitchen refresh was to spruce it up with some new plastic kitchenware. You know the sort of thing; washing up bowl, dish drainer, kitchen bin …
Wham’s Casa range of plastic kitchenware comes in a wide range of contemporary colours, it’s hard-wearing and thoughtfully designed. I asked for a number of pieces in silver, to match the kitchen, together with a chilli red kitchen organiser to put all my small pots of paint and brushes in, more on that later.
Here’s how everything looked when I unpacked it. Isn’t it great when you receive new goodies? There’s really no better incentive to get on with the job in hand, spring cleaning the kitchen in my case, ready to put all your new products in place.
Out With The Old
Blimey, you really don’t realise how worn out your old kitchenware looks until you have new products to compare them with. I’m not going to berate myself though as kitchen plastic must be one of the hardest working group of household items. If you think about it you use your kitchen bowl, drainer and bin every day and take them totally for granted, so it’s not surprising they start to look a little careworn after a while.
Our old washing up bowl is a classic example of this, it’s lovely shiny finish has long gone and it looks like it’s fought many a battle with our dirty dishes.
From a distance, our old wire dish drainer looks fine.
But on closer inspection, it too has lost it’s lustre and the little plastic feet have worn through & try as I might, I can’t find replacement one anywhere.
Equally, our trusty kitchen bin has served us well.
But the lid has looked worn like this for a while now and even though I frequently give it a quick wipe over, as the finish has worn off, it quickly looks grim like this.
Time then for my new Wham Casa plastics to give the kitchen a much-needed lift.
In With The New
Wow, just look at the shine on our new washing up bowl. In fact, it’s so glossy that I had to photograph it from a slight angle as I captured my reflection in the base of it with the first photo I took. This is a 38mm rectangular bowl and as you can see, it fits the sink perfectly.
Next up, meet our stylish new large dish drainer which holds up to 12 plates with two handy cutlery drainer compartments and additional drainer space for cups and glasses. Cleverly designed with integral handles, it’s strong, durable and easy to maintain.
So far, so good, with our new washing up bowl and dish drainer in position, the sink unit get’s good to go.
Love Your kitchen Bin
Ok, so it’s perhaps not the most glamorous item in our homes, but where on earth would we be without a great kitchen bin?Over the years, we’ve had kitchen bins in all shapes, sizes and colours as trends have come and gone.
Size matters where kitchen bins are concerned, so I choose the Wham casa 50L swing bin, the largest in the range to cope with all our unwanted kitchen bits & pieces. It’s a perfect size and shape for the space we have.
I think most of you will agree with me that you can never have enough storage, and portable storage like this kitchen caddy/organiser is a brilliant addition to any kitchen. I’m really impressed with how deep the two storage sections are as I’ve had similar organisers to this in the past, but they have had much shallower compartments and things just fall out as you’re carrying it around – not with this one though, yay!
Just look how much gear it holds too.
As regular readers will know, I like to paint and as the weather warms up, it’s an annual ritual to repaint the garden furniture, more on that later, but just look how brilliant the chilli red version of the caddy is here. It’s holding numerous match pots and cans of paint, brushes and much more painting paraphernalia, which is great as I have everything to hand.
I also sew a lot and this would work equally well as a caddy for threads, scissors and the like. My gardening twines, trowels and much more would look equally at home in one of these.
Kitchen Refresh Complete
I’m sure you’ll agree that our new kitchenware looks great. It echos the contemporary vibe of our kitchen and I think it’s both funky and functional. Thanks Wham!
